The Cyprus Cultural Foundation was established in 2005 by the government of Cyprus and tasked with the creation of the Cyprus Cultural Centre in Nicosia, the capital of the Republic of Cyprus. The Cultural Centre will provide a focal point for the island’s performing arts, showcasing national and international performances of music, dance, opera, musical theatre and the spoken word.
On March 19, 2007 Cyprus Cultural Foundation announced that its Board of Directors voted unanimously to accept the recommendation from the Jury of an international architectural competition to appoint Hopkins Architects of London to design the Cyprus Cultural Centre.

Όταν η ISPA, η Διεθνής Ένωση Παραστατικών Τεχνών, αποφάσισε να διοργανώσει το ετήσιο συνέδριο της για το 2008 στο Durban της Νότιας Αφρική η φυσική αντίδραση πολλών από τα μέλη ήταν η επιφυλακτικότητα, η απορία, ίσως και η έκπληξη...

Όταν το κράτος μας ανέθεσε πριν δυόμισι περίπου χρόνια τη δημιουργία του Μεγάρου Πολιτισμού Κύπρου αισθανθήκαμε τιμή για την εμπιστοσύνη, αλλά και δέος για το μέγεθος της ευθύνης και των δυσκολιών που συνεπάγεται ένα τέτοιο έργο....
